Okay, so I’m counting a top as a finish here (^_^). Still I’m pretty happy with this one, as it took a nice bite out of my stash, in short order.

Ruby Star Society Summer Sew Along

The pattern is from the gang over at Ruby Star Society (grab the free pattern here). You may recognize that the fabrics in mine are more “Ruby Star Classic” than the newer stuff, but again, this was a great opportunity to make good use of some fabrics I loved but hadn’t yet managed to find a home for. The dark and light blocks are great for using up yardage, and the alternate colours come from 10 fat quarters.

This pattern is the perfect thing if you’ve got a hankering to sew something but don’t have the mental bandwidth to think too much about fabric choice, measuring etc. It’s really just a heap of five inch square blocks! I think I’ll use a heavier backing and make it into a true picnic blanket.

The whole endeavor has got me motivated to clear out some more of the fabric + WIP backlog … I should have something fun to share with you along these lines in the next little while. One last peek at the only fussy cutting block in the top (from the Ruby Star mask panel):
