Update! A new version of the pattern – with an all now layout – is available. Read more here.
It’s been a while since I finished my alphabet quilt block pattern but I finally got my quilt up on the wall for a full size shot! This pattern is a wall hanging size (or a narrow throw), at 32” x 56” and you can find it here in my shop.
Fabrics
This pattern is a fun way to play with dimension and print mixing. Each block is designed to create the look of a patterned ribbon that is folded to create the shape of a letter. Shout out to Cotton and Steel + Rifle Paper Co. for their beautiful collaboration on the Les Fleurs fabric collection. I used Les Fleurs for all of the ‘print sides’ of the ribbon letters throughout. The solids fabrics, meant to represent the “backs” of the ribbons, are all Kona cottons.

This is a good pattern for confident beginners. It uses straight stitching and half-square triangles in all blocks. If you’re curious to give these blocks a try, you can click here to get the blocks for letters ABC free. You’ll also get a coupon that you can put towards the full set!
