We just escaped the wrath of a wild thunderstorm that swept across Ontario here, so as I write this I’m indoors thanking my lucky stars that the power is still on!
A bit of a double finish for you this week: two I Heart You quilts. This pattern is by Pen and Paper Patterns and I’ll tell you, it’s a dream to put together. Especially if you go the route – as I did for the second one – of using the same fabrics for all the hearts. Very sweet and the perfect gift for my two nieces.
First here’s the one I did most recently. The quilting is by Honey Bee Quilt Studio and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. Background fabric is by Rifle Paper, hearts are Ruby Star Co. (the bright yellowy green) + something I can’t remember (^_^).
The other quilt you may have seen bits of here from time to time. I think I started working on it back in 2019? For this one I went scrappier with the hearts. Takes a wee bit more planning but a cute result I think. The quilting here is by Spooled Rotten Quilts – a vintage-y, ruffle-y design that I will definitely be using again on a quilt for myself.
For the backings I used Doe Grid and pale blue Widescreen widebacks, both by Carolyn Friedlander. If you’ve never used a wideback before, highly recommended. As the name suggests these fabrics are extra wide – 108″ in width – which means no piecing a back, you can save a bit of trouble and use a single cut for most sizes of quilt.
And the two together:
Meanwhile, slowly but surely getting in some pattern writing in behind the scenes, hoping to have some news on that front in the fall. In the meantime, thank you as always for following along!
