This week I jumped right back into sewing another Five and Dime quilt, this time a slightly scrappier version of the throw (which is 60″ x 60″). This one starts with18 fat quarters (as opposed to ⅓ yards used in the cover version).
In the sprit of sewing my stash, I’m using what’s on my shelf, with these prints as my jumping off point:
From top to bottom these are by Carolyn Friedlander, Emily Taylor, Kimberly Kight, and Carolyn Friedlander again. Maybe it’s a bit of eighties nostalgia but I am really into this palette of soft greys with peachy pinks lately.
From there I mixed in some blues, plus some neon lime for a bit of pop.
The first blocks:
It is not unusual for me to start cutting into my fat quarters and find that I’ve already stolen from them for other projects. When that happens I just mix in more prints from my scrap bin, which makes it even scrappier.
And here’s the final top. When I tell you this one comes together so quickly, I am not kidding!
As always I hope you’re having a good week, and finding a little time to sew.
