Ghost Party by Woolly Petals

Let’s start with something absolutely adorable – the Ghost Party quilt pattern by my friend Kristin at Woolly Petals. If you spend any time on quilt Instagram you are bound to have seen the excitement build around this pattern each time Halloween draws near, and it’s understandable … this pattern is pure Halloween magic! You can make individual ghost blocks that finish at 18″ x 24″, perfect for smaller projects, or go all out with the full 60″ x 72″ quilt featuring nine friendly ghosts.

What I love about this pattern is its versatility. Kristin has thoughtfully included instructions for traditional piecing, but if you’re a foundation paper piecing enthusiast like me, she’s got you covered with FPP templates too. You’ll want to be comfortable with half-square triangles, snowball blocks, and foundation paper piecing to tackle this one, but the results are absolutely worth it.

Twilight Frenzy by ElisabethDeMoo

If bats are more your style, you need to check out the Twilight Frenzy pattern by ElisabethDeMoo. This clever design reminds me of a classic gingham pattern, but with a spooky twist – bats instead of checks! The designer brilliantly captures the erratic, wild flight pattern of bats, making it feel like they’re swooping right off your quilt.

The pattern comes in three sizes – wall hanging, throw, and queen – so whether you want a small accent piece or a full bedspread to really commit to the Halloween theme, you’re all set. It’s such a unique take on bat motifs that goes beyond the typical appliqué approach.

Dracula Block by ellisandhiggs

Dracula Quilt Block Pattern

For those who love precision piecing and aren’t afraid of tiny pieces, the Dracula quilt block pattern by ellisandhiggs is calling your name. This pattern offers two block sizes – 6″ and 12″ – and fair warning: some of those pieces are seriously small (we’re talking ⅞” squares!).

Rated as advanced beginner, this block would be perfect for someone ready to challenge their piecing skills. I can already imagine a whole quilt made up of these dramatic blocks, or even using them as accent blocks in a larger Halloween sampler quilt.

Spooky Squad Pillows by Pen and Paper Patterns

Last but definitely not least, let’s talk about the Spooky Squad pillow collection from Pen and Paper Patterns. This set is so adorable and gives you four different 18″ pillows to choose from: Mummy, Pumpkin, Frankenstein, and Spider. Plus, there’s a bonus “Lil’ Bit Batty” block included!

These traditionally pieced pillows are perfect for adding just the right amount of Halloween spirit to your living room or porch. They’re recommended for intermediate sewists and up, which makes them great confidence-building projects if you’re ready to step up your game.

Ready to Get Stitching?

Halloween quilting doesn’t have to be all orange and black (though there’s nothing wrong with that classic combo!). These patterns show how creative and diverse spooky season sewing can be. Whether you’re drawn to friendly ghosts, dramatic vampire blocks, chaotic bat flights, or cute character pillows, there’s something here to spark your Halloween creativity.
