Hello, hello! Today I’m sharing a few pics of my entry for this year’s Pantone Quilt Challenge, generously hosted by No Hats in the House and Bryan House Quilts.
Category: “Just the Top”
Size: 56″ x 56″
Quilt name: Parthenos Quilt
Country: Canada
The colour this year is Living Coral. I went for the brightest possible coral I could find (Kona Orangeade) paired with Kona Shell.
My design inspiration (in addition to coral itself) is Oscar Niemeyer’s Brasilia architecture (pictured below is the Alvorada Palace, Photo from Wikipedia under Creative Commons licence; coral image from Pantone).
While researching a name for the quilt I went down a real rabbit hole about coral reproduction and then plant and animal reproduction in general and have christened this … the Parthenos Quilt.
